Sonam Kapoor is known for her inevitable fashion statement She has been a style icon for the youth in the country and she believes in making her presence felt at every top fashion week. Can't wait for spring! Fashionistas get ready for the change of season with floral prints and high hemlines

Always eager for the season to change, the fashion forward can't wait to get out of their winter layers and warm up to spring's ice cream tones.
Most B-town fashionistas are already being spotted in spring's trademark trends from vibrant colours, floral prints, high hemlines, flowing silhouettes and enough skin to compliment them all.
Even the makeup is going from harsh and warm to light and translucent.

Most importantly the stiff body language that makes winter a time for arrogant luxe is giving way to more easy breezy ways.
British Vogue's February edition has a model posing in a printed blouse, wearing tousled bob, orange lips and the brightest smile on the cover.

That is the thing about the arrival of spring; If winter is the time to cover up and cold shoulder others with a high-fashion frown, the advent of spring is marked by loosening up with easy fashion and a free body language.
Flat thong sandals and strappy pumps replace patent leather boots, floor-sweeping maxis take over military jackets and faux fur wraps and a sense of relax and calm prevails over an uptight air.
Lifestyle welcomes the advent of spring that is creeping in in doses even when the chilly air refuses to relent. Thank goodness for the fashion forward who rarely bring about a warm change of events.

Beauty at its Best: Katrina Kaif

Alisha Fernandes, Time n Style
What is the first thing you do every morning? Share your beauty regimen with us.

Katrina Kaif
After a shower, the first thing I do every morning is apply the Olay Natural White moisturiser with SPF. It’s important for me to have a product that has everything in it because I don’t have the patience to apply a moisturiser, wait for five minutes and then apply a sunblock. Dry skin is a problem area for me, so moisturising is of utmost importance. In addition to sun protection, another important feature to look for in a cream is whether it provides an even skin tone.

Alisha Fernandes, Time n Style
What is your definition of beauty?

Katrina Kaif
To me, beauty is being comfortable in your own skin and making them most of what you have been blessed with. It’s the ability to understand your strengths, your features, your style and what works for you. I always thought that I’d be really good at giving people makeovers because I feel like I have a good eye when it comes to identifying people’s strong features.

Alisha Fernandes, Time n Style
What, in your opinion, is a must-have beauty product?

Katrina Kaif
The best must-have product, according to me, is a good moisturising sunblock. I have a mental block about going out in the sun without a sunblock. It’s imperative to protect your skin from harmful UV rays, since you risk pigmentation, tanning and lots of other skin problems.

Alisha Fernandes, Time n Style
What fitness regimen do you follow?

Katrina Kaif
If you are trying to maintain your weight or get fit, unfortunately the only way to achieve it is to hit the gym and exercise regularly. There is no substitute for hard work. Also, I’m lucky to have a great trainer who pushes me to achieve whatever goals we set. So far, every time I’ve set a target for myself, we have been successful in achieving it. It’s important to mix things up when you’re working out, and so we do a lot of different things in the gym to break the monotony. Sometimes after shows or rehearsals, when there is a lot of dancing, it takes a toll on my joints. Pilates works excellently to align everything in the body, without exerting too much pressure on the joints.

Alisha Fernandes, Time n Style
What's your diet like?

Katrina Kaif
I don’t really follow a specific diet, but I do sensible things like staying away from fried foods and sugar. I really love fish, so my diet consists mostly of variations of fish dishes. I believe that if you restrict yourself too much, you end up overdoing it later. So, when I go out for dinner, I eat what I want and am not too strict with myself.

Alisha Fernandes, Time n Style
How do you manage to stay perfectly groomed despite long work hours?

Katrina Kaif
When it’s part of your job description, to be in the public eye, you have to make an effort to be well turned out at all times. If you work in an office, you wouldn’t go to work without a briefcase. Similarly, in this profession you have to be appropriately groomed for whatever it is that you are doing.

Alisha Fernandes, Time n Style
What is your approach to hair care?

Katrina Kaif
As with skincare, hair care too requires you to find a treatment that works for you, and most of the time, it’s different for everyone. Besides the shampoo-and-conditioner routine, I avoid exposing my hair to heat as much as possible. When you are in a hurry, you tend to blow-dry your hair using the highest setting. However, I put the hair dryer on the lowest setting during styling because styling tools completely dry out the hair and make it look lifeless.

Alisha Fernandes, Time n Style
Who is your role model when it comes to beauty?

Katrina Kaif
Penelope Cruz! But I think you have role models while you are still young, and as you mature, you learn to accept yourself the way you are.

Alisha Fernandes, Time n Style
You started out in the film industry at a fairly young age. How did you pave your way to a long-standing career in films?

Katrina Kaif
When you start out in any field, you don’t know where the journey will lead you. I started out in a casual manner, and as time elapsed, my interest grew. I learned more and became more dedicated to my work. Also, as you gain experience and grow familiar with what you’re doing, you know which way to direct your energy and it's not just misplaced hard work.

Alisha Fernandes, Time n Style
What is your personal style statement?

Katrina Kaif
If it’s for a movie, I am open to trying any kind of look, but in my personal life I like to keep it simple. I rarely wear bright colours and prefer muted tones and loose silhouttes.

Alisha Fernandes, Time n Style
On Valentine's Day…

Katrina Kaif
It’s a great day if you have someone special to spend it with, who would do nice things for you, and if not, it’s still a nice day!

Anushka Sharma is turning heads

As they say, fashion can make you or break you. In case of actor Anushka Sharma, it has certainly worked in her favour. While the actor with her girl-next-door look got a lukewarm response from style watchers, when she stepped into Bollywood four years back, the later part of year 2011 saw her
emerge out as quite a style icon. From her designer chic gowns to her stylish hairdos, Anushka has wowed all with her stellar style, which has undergone a subtle but a very posh make over.

Talking about this transformation, stylist Ankita Jain says, “Anushka is opting for more sleeker outfits. She’s wearing dresses that flatter her body type and is also experimenting with her hair. All this goes on to show that she’s planning her looks more carefully Anushkanow.”

Nisha Kundnani, Anushka’s current fashion stylist agrees, “One of the finest quality about Anushka’s new look is that nothing about her is over dramatic. She is also experimenting with fashion. So one day she could do a grunge jacket with distressed denims and boots, the other day she can make a 40s pencil silhouette work for her, the next she’ll carry a red carpet gown like a Hollywood star.”

Fashion designer Alpana of designer duo Alpana Neeraj says, “Whether it is her straight hair, unkempt waves, messy bun or a ponytail, Anushka is coming across as someone who wants to try out new styles.”

Sridevi is Sonam Kapoor's big secret

Sonam Kapoor is also called Bollywood's bold and beautiful. And she rightly earns the title too.

After all, the actress has been 10/ 10 on the fashionista's sheet right from her first film. And if all that has got you thinking that what makes her a class apart from the mistake-making newbies, then here's the secret: her aunt and tutor is none other than yesteryear silver screen Queen Bee, Sridevi.

"Sri Chachi taught me how to dress. She is the one who taught me the art of minimalistic makeup," Sonam said. "For me it is not just about wearing something revealing, it's about the attitude. I have done films such as Mausam, Aaisha, and now Players, and in none of them have I worn clothes that reveal more than they can hide. And yet, I get tagged often with such flattering adjectives," she added.

What is Bipasha Basu's fitness mantra?

Stay fit, stay fabulous. That’s the mantra actor Bipasha Basu swears by. A fitness enthusiast, the 32-year-old Bollywood diva talks about fitness, fashion winter care and lot more:

I’m a fitness enthusiast and it takes a lot of discipline and
special care to get a fit body. It is important that you exercise everyday to stay fit. The main emphasis should be on working out the abs and lower limbs.

A mix of cardio and weight training helps. These are important just not for a good bikini body but a fit and fabulous body in general. I also stick to a specific diet and keep away from sweets. I never indulge in junk food and most importantly, I eat on time. I’m glad I did all this because my discipline has paid off and I have received umpteen compliments for the look.

How do you take care of yourself in winter?
I primarily take a healthy diet comprising vitamin B2 or Riboflavin. A good moisturiser helps a long way in keeping skin nourished in this season. Chapped lips are one of the most common problems in this season so a good lip balm is a must. I use Vasocare and even apply a thin coat before putting on lipstick. Most importantly, even if you don’t feel thirsty, keep yourself well- hydrated by having lots of water. I drink around eight glasses of water every day.

Do you plan to roll out more fitness videos in future?
My fitness DVD, Bipasha Basu Love Yourself — Fit and Fabulous You was appreciated and has inspired me to work towards my next DVD.

I am aiming at launching a series of DVDs in 2012. My first DVD was more women-centric so my male fans wrote back requesting not to neglect them. So, now I am working towards something that will be beneficial for both men and women.

Lastly, what is your fashion mantra?
Comfort comes first. I prefer my garments to be comfortable and of course fashionable. I pick garments which reflect my personality and my penchant for fitness.

One must exercise everyday. The main emphasis should be on working out the abs and lower limbs. A mix of cardio and weight training helps

I might launch my next series of fitness DVDs in 2012. My first DVD was more women-centric, but these would benefit even men.
